"There is only one important thing missing" St Vitus's Cathedral Tip by hundwalder

As explained in my previous tip, this magnificent cathedral is filled with so much great artwork and architectural brilliance, that it could easily take a full day to explore and savor it.

It was late afternoon after the tour groups had finally departed and the castle complex was no longer crowded ( what a difference one hour can make ). I was walking along the outside wall of the cathedral on the opposite side of the golden bell tower shown in the photo, when I was overcome by the foul stench of stale urine. At first I thought that inconsiderate tourists were responsible. Seconds later a priest came bursting out of the side door at a speed even greater than the fastest commuters entering and leaving the trains at the Mustek Metro station. He proceeded to a corner removed from the view of most tourists and relieved himself. Now I knew the source of the pungent smell.

It is amazing that with all of the attention given to detail in the design and construction of this great cathedral, that some small provision could have been made to accomodate nature. But then again, Europeans during medieval times were well known for their complete lack of hygiene.

Because I don't wish to end this tip on a foul note, please focus your attention on photo #2, which shows a brilliant gold inlaid window, as well as one set of the many masterfully crafted Gothic arches that fill the interior of the cathedral.
