This unique find allows you to stay on Mykines after the day-trippers have left. You more or less have the island all to yourself from the late afternoon departure of the last ferry until the first ferry's arrival around 11:00 the next morning.

In the building itself, there are 3 double rooms and one family room sharing one bathroom in the attic. Our room was a bit cramped under the eaves, but comfy. There are additional rooms and dormitories (a total of 35 beds, though accommodations can be made for groups of up to 40) in neighboring buildings. The website strongly recommends reserving well in advance, however. Buffet breakfast is included. Dinner costs extra and must be requested in advance. (The website now says we could've specially requested fried puffin -- darn!) You can also order fast-food lunches a la carte. The half chicken and chips (Kr 55) is especially good.

As of 2012, a double room costs DKK 700 per night, including breakfast. If you bring your own sleeping bags and towels, accommodation is DKK 250 per person. Mastercard, Visa, and Dankort accepted. The website says dinner costs DKK 150 per person -- but when we stayed, we were quoted a price significantly lower. But, we paid in cash and everybody seemed happy, so I didn't protest too much.

Unique Qualities: I'd say any accommodation on this remote island is quite unique. Breakfast is included, other meals available for a price, and credit cards are accepted.
