This is a no frills, 1960's type of local cafe in Morro Bay. From the well worn feel of the place food is their main concern and not the decor. The large windows in the front of the restaurant help to give the small cafe a larger feel. This is the kind of place to go to when you have an appetite. The portions are large and the food is great. I love these kinds of places because what you get is pure home cooking even when you are on the road.

The Coffee Pot was started and still owned to this day by a man who began his life in a Chinese orphanage. He made his way through life and finally emigrated to the US and it was his lifelong dream to own a restaurant in the US. He has published a book "Double Luck" about his life to escape communist China. "Double Luck" is for sale at the restaurant.

Favorite Dish: I really enjoyed a potatoe dish that had home fried potatoes with eggs and cheese and bacon all mixed up together. Sally had the pancakes which she proclaimed as "excellent" and Kris had a veggie omelette that looked mighty good. The coffee was very good (I would have expected no less).
