Baraonda: "Funky Italian Restaurant and Lounge" Top 5 Page for this destination Baraonda Tip by Gypsystravels

Eclectic is the best way to describe this restaurant. It's a fantastic and chic place here on the upper East Side. The restaurant serves some authentic Italian meals with some very interesting art work. The interior is colorful and has an "airy" feel to the atmosphere. The wine list is excellent.

On Wednesdays, this restaurant transforms into Disco Night and on Sundays from 12-whenever this restaurant turns into a favorite party place where you'll enjoy colorful costumes "a la carnival".

The owner currently has three restaurants here on 2nd Ave and is opening a fourth real soon.

Favorite Dish: I love their "Gran Fritto Misto all'Italiano" - Its an appetizer with a large serving of fried calamari, shrimp, scallop, artichokes and zucchini served with a light spicy tomato sauce for dipping, YUM!! (If you don't want a large meal, try one of the many appetizers which will surely kill that hunger)

The entire menu is excellent, but I can't resist their "Casoncelli di Bargamo con Pancetta Croccante, Burr e Salvia - It's a Bergamo style veal raviolli with crispy pancetta brown butter sage sauce - Now who could resist that?!!
