"Gadi Sagar" Jaisalmer Things to Do Tip by Waxbag
Jaisalmer Things to Do: 208 reviews and 682 photos
This is a small lake that used to hold the city’s watersupply. It is surrounded by temples and shrines and is a popular hangout for locals. The tank was built by Maharaja Gadsi Singh in 1367 but the ornate sandstone gateway that punctuates the lake is supposedly built by a famous prostitute to the chagrin of the Maharaja. There is a Krishna temple built on top that can be visited. There are some photogenic people here and are more than happy to have their photo taken for a few rupies. I had my sandals fixed while I washed the massive catfish being fed.
Directions: This place is easy to miss. It is located outside the old walls on the south east side of the city off of Gadi Sagar rd. You can walk there from the Golden Fort, but go early or late as the sun is brutal.
