If you only have a couple to a handful of days to visit Kiev, I would recommend trying to visit the following attractions. Get acquainted with the Kretschatik. This is the main street and
the city seems to feed off of it. It is a beautfiul, wide and busy street. Crossing is done
underground in which stands, stores and underground shopping centers are available.
On one end is Indpendence Square and a beautiful waterfall across the street with numerous
souvenir stands in front of cafes and stores.

St Sophias, St Michaels, St Andrews are all relatively close to each other (within a few blocks)
in or near the historic Podil district. Podil is a neat area with restaurants, trams, museusm, performing arts theaters and the famous 'Andrews Descent'.

On the other end of the Kretschtik high overlooking the Dnipro River is the WW2 Museum, Rodina Mat and the Perchersk Lavra. This was a quick cab ride out there and then walked back thru the scenic parks that went along the river back to city center.

One mile NW outside of Kiev is Babi Yar, a short Metro ride from the Kretschtik station with
one transfer to the green line. Cross the street from the metro and you are at Babi Yar. I would recommend that you read up a little on it atleast to get a better impact and appreciation on the real signficance of what it represents.

I am not sure of some of the cafes and restaurants I ate at but they all were in or near city center and the food was very good at all the places. The prices were reasonable for what I am used to paying in the States. Many sidewalk cafes with great ambience and personality.
