The Notre-Dame is build between 1839 and 1885 and is the oldest church in Ottawa.
The two towers can be seen from far away and makes the building easy to recognise.
The interior of the church is brightly painted and decorated with carved features, stained glass windows and hundreds of statues of various religious figures.
In 1978 the Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica of Ottawa was recognized as an historic monument.
The church is open daily for self-guided tours and prayer. Admission is free.
