St. Nicholas Cathedral is the largest church in Ljubljana, you can see the dome and bell towers from all over town. It's dedicated to St. Nicholas, the patron saint of fisherman and sailors, the current building dates to 1706 although a church had stood on this site since the mid 13th century.

To enter the cathedral you need to go through the bronze door which only dates to 1996, installed in honor of the Pope's visit to Ljubljana. Once insideyou'll be treated to frescoes by Quaglio from the early 1700s depicting miracles at sea.
