  The Chateau Ahead
by hquittner

If you are exploring the Anjou part of the Pays around Angers (as we did) plan a visit to Bauge. It is a quiet town (3663 pop.) established by Fulk Nerra in 1000 AD. It has ruined walls and is adjacent to a state forest and is surrounded by pleasant agricultural country. A Chateau (now the town hall, tourist office and museum) rises on the high ground. It was rebuilt in 1430 by Yolande d'Aragon the mother of Good King Rene. We have another Tip about the town under its own heading.
