The typical Golden Circle is Thingvellir, Geysir, Gullfoss and Kerio. However, there are some slightly different plans, so do check before you book.

There are many tour operators who run these trips, including the Youth Hostel (see accom section).

They do seem to be pretty pricey.

By far the best option is to hire a car. As long as there are 2 or more of you, it works out much cheaper and you can do the tour at your own pace.

When I stayed at the youth hostel, it seems that the best option for solo travellers is to hire a car, then put up a notice on the board of your plans. There will be many other travellers who will be happy to split the costs with you.

For info on each part of the circle, see individual posts under 'Things to do'.
