Located between Piazza Navona and Campo de' Fiori, Palazzo Braschi was built in the late 18th century for duca Luigi Braschi Onesti, a nephew of Pope Pius VI. In 1871, the Palazzo was purchased by the Italian state, and since 1952, it has housed il Museo di Roma, dedicated to the city of Rome. The museum itself has a great collection of paintings focused on the city of Rome and exhibited in the numerous halls of the palazzo with their beautifully frescoed ceilings. Unlike the more popular museums in Rome, this one is void of mass tourists making it a much more pleasant experience.
