"Soviet tank monument" Chernihiv Off The Beaten Path Tip by HORSCHECK

  Soviet tank monument

After our arrival at the train station of Chernihiv we decided to go to the city centre on foot instead of taking a local bus. On the way we came across a Soviet monument with a tank on top. On the tank was written in Ukrainian language "For the fatherland".

A big memorial plate on the pedestal of the monument tells the date "21st September 1943" and a list with quantities. For us it looked liked it listed the supplies which were produced in Chernihiv during WWII, but we weren't really sure about the meaning.

The Soviet tank monument can be found on the way from the train station to the city centre at the square "pl. Peremogi".
