"Not Worth: Ruins of Fuerte San Lorenzo" Panamá City Things to Do Tip by gdilieto
Panamá City Things to Do: 163 reviews and 381 photos
I visited the ruins of the Spanish fort of San Lorenzo as part of my day-trip from Panama City to the Caribbean cost of Panama.
The archaeological site, declared UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the rest a fort built by the Spaniards to defend the Camino de Cruces - the trails developed across the Panamanian isthmus to carry the gold, silver and other treasures looted in South America back to Spain - against the pirates.
Despite the quite remarkable location, on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean coast and the mouth of Rio Chagres (see pictures attached), the archaeological site is not impressive altogether and in my view not worth the effort to get there.
