"Sentinel Dome" Yosemite National Park Things to Do Tip by acebruin

This is a hiking trail that you MUST take when you visit yosemite. The ease vs the reward comparison is unmatched in the whole park. Located just two to three miles before the end of Glacier Point Road, this trail goes for 2.2 miles round trip to the top of the dome. It's a leisure hike for most of the way until the final stretch. Hiking up the rocky dome is the hardest part of the hike.

From the trail itself you can get a good look at the dome. Once you start getting close to the top, you start to see 360 degrees view of the valley and mountain ranges around. All the features of the valley, clark range, foothils, mountains are visible from the top. One heck of a reward for a minimal effort. It is also one of the less crowded trails in the park. You can hike and enjoy the nature without a lot of people around taking pictures or what not.

Make sure you bring camera and binocular. And get ready for a heart stopping view of Yosemite National Park. The view literally took my breath away.
