Rose Marie Bravo, 2002, when Burberry was great.

Between their "boring beige trenchcoat" period in the 1960s and '70s (which spilled over onto the '80s) and today, when Burberry have gone to the other extreme and tries too hard to be trendy, with the likes of the gruesome Kate Mess promoting them, Burberry was exciting and appealing. ...This was under the chairwomanship of the wonderful sassy, sexy Rose Marie Bravo (a lot more pleasing to the eye than Kate Mess).

What to buy: Whatever it is from this 'British' icon won't be made in UK! ...They closed their British factory earlier this year (2007) to concentrate production in China. Many famous people, such as Tom Jones and Manchester United manager, Alex Ferguson, campaigned to save the factory and hundreds of jobs in an area where there aren't that many jobs (the Welsh valleys).

What to pay: Too much, considering it's all made abroad by cheap labour.
