"An open-air museum" Piazza Della Signoria Tip by viddra
Piazza Della Signoria, Florence: 97 reviews and 211 photos
With the 13th-century Palazzo Vecchio and numerous statues, 'Piazza della Signoria' is probably the most beautiful square in Florence and a real open-air museum.
It’s filled with art. Here, you can find Michelangel’s David (a copy, though) and Bardinelli’s Hercules killing Cacus.
Not far from these two powerful statues is the statue of Judith by Donatello. We can see her killing her enemies.
The Fountain of Neptune is really monumental and famous as well. Because of its plump body, the Florentines called him ‘Il Biancone’ (=White giant) and used to mock its author Ammannati in songs.
