Looking for an unusual gift? Or simply curious about how things were made in the colonial era? Visit some of Williamsburg's shops. The artisans there are glad to demonstrate their tools and techniques, without any hard-sell promotions. Needless to say, most of these items are rather pricey, but it doesn't cost a thing to browse and shoot photos.

Address: P. O. Box 1776 Williamsburg, VA 23187-1776
Directions: To visit the town, take I-64 east to Hwy 143 (exit 238). Follow it to Route 132 (Henry St), and follow the signs to the Visitors Center. The shops are mostly along Duke of Gloucester St.
