"Train to/from Udaipur" Jaipur Transportation Tip by atufft

We took an overnight train to Udaipur. Our driver drove with most of our luggage while we skipped the hotel for a night and shared a room with a British couple. The trains in India are quite interesting and old fashioned. I didn't sleep too well, but then given the luxury we had the rest of the trip this was OK. At one point, the train stopped in the countryside and everyone climbed out to stretch their legs. I took a couple of photos. I believe that we had to wait for a freight train to pass in an area where there was only one set of tracks. I highly recommend the trains, and the staton in Jaipur is not at all an unreasonable place to be, but my understanding is that ticketing can be complicated. Our agent in Delhi arranged this for us upon our request. The countryside near Jaipur is dry agricultural plots of land with the occasional well pruned tree.
