The Punic Mausoleum of Bes, usually known as Mausoleum B, dates back to the pre-Roman era. It stands guard above a funerary chamber built in the 2nd century BC. It is 24m tall and the pyramidal structure at the top has carvings of three lions (see Photo 4) and the Egyptian god Bes, who was the protector of the dead.
