My second stay at Yavapai Lodge. Location is less congested than the other lodges around the train station, packed with tour buses and cars.
Yavapai Lodge is a short drive /walking distance to view sunrise. Ample parking. A big plus is walking distance to the general store to purchase water, snacks, food. Also post office on site. Food at Yavapai Lodge is barely decent and expensive. If you have a car, it's worth to drive 1 mi outside the Grand Canyon for breakfast. Dinner at Bright Angel Lodge is reasonably priced. Trout was fresh and delicious. Must try their Apple Grunt or Chocolate Suicide cake.
The Lodge is spartan but very clean. Hairdryer, coffee maker w/ free coffee/ refrig in the room. No internet but there's a pay one in the lobby.
Need to book super early.

Unique Qualities: Since lodge is away from the cluster of other lodges/hotels, you see more deers coming out to feed at the end of the day. Cayotes too.

Lodges/store/restaurant employees are visitors on working visa or within USA on seasonal contract. We met folks from Germany, Thailand, Japan, State of Washington etc.
