Apart from the numerous cottages and farmhouses, the Museum at Wdzydze displays a variety of outbuildings, like barns, granaries, cowsheds, stables, pigsties and the like.
In the Kashubian tradition a building was often divided so as to combine a number of functions, which made a farmer's work easier. The buildings were either timber or timber-framed and had thatched roofs. An interesting feature of the roof was the so-called 'ox's eye' - a rounding cut out in the roof's edge which provided access to the attic where animal feed was kept. Not only practical, but also pretty.
The kind of ladder leading up to the poultry house must have had a practical explanation as well. The entrance must have been placed so high to make it difficult for predators such as foxes to reach the birds.
