"Not really broken, just never finished." Unfinished Church - St George Tip by airkarat


Outside St. George is what appears to be a church ruin. In fact, the church was never finished. From Scott's notes:

The capital of the island used to be St. George. Where the ship the Sea Venture was shipwrecked in 1609. This church was under construction in 1874 but the church was in disagreement so construction stopped. Then they moved the capital to the middle of the island to Hamilton. Many people left and the church remains unfinished to this day as a historical landmark.

Directions: St. George outskirts and up a big hill. Taxis are available to take you this route, its quite a climb.
