HAD THE GREAT INDEPENDENCE DAY PARTY!! IT WAS SO MUCH FUN LISTENING TO THE MUSIC AND WATCHING THE PEOPLE DANCE AND ALSO LOOKING AT ALL THE GREAT THINGS THE DIFFERENT VENDORS HAD FOR SALE. ....Israel Independence Day is celebrated annually on 5 Iyar, the anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel (May 14, 1948). The day preceding this celebration is devoted to the memory of those who gave their lives for the achievement of the country's independence and its continued existence.
The festival is celebrated on the 5th of Iyar unless that falls on a Friday or Saturday. This is to avoid having the festival either on Shabbat, the Jewish sabbath, or immediately before it. If this happens it is brought back to the preceding Thursday ( 3rd/ 4th Iyar).
