Trying to find somewhere to eat in Albaicin was more difficult than I'd expected - As it was late October, I presume some restaurants were closed for the season; also it was nearly 2pm.

I'd found a place in a square, but after sitting there for over 10 minutes and failing to catch the waitresses eye, I moved on.

It was a relief to find Pl. Aliatar with 2 restaurants open. Both restaurants had interesting menus, with local dishes. I settled for this place as it had Rabo de Toro. It was my last meal in Granada before I flew home, and I wanted to try a local dish. (Apparently the adjacent restaurant is famous for its snail dishes)!

A small plate with fries and a meat stew was put in front of me - at first I thought this was my main meal, and I was regretting my choice. However, a few minutes later my Rabos de Torro arrived. Hmmm, not sure about a stew tapas before a main course of Stew, but never mind!

The bulls tail wasn't quite what I'd anticipated - I hadn't expected it to be 6-8 cube shaped bones, a darker red meat than I'd expected too. The meat was very tender, and the stew flavoured with herbs. It was quite filling, and perfect for a day when the weather wasn't so warm.

Favorite Dish: Rabo de Toro - a local dish. I'm not sure if this was a good version or not, but I enjoyed it - plenty of flavours, and planty of fresh crusty bread to mop up the rich sauce

With local / traditional dishes there are usually variations, often family recipes handed down, or using whatever is available. I enjoyed it though - tender meat and plenty of flavour

Rabo de toro and a coffee came to 12 euros

Address: C/San Buenaventura 18 Albayzin 18010
Comparison: about average
Directions: Plaza Aliatar is in Alto Albaicin (High Albaicin). From St Nicholas parador, head towards the square towered Colegiata del Salvador, this Plaza is around the corner -sorry I can't be more precise.
