The National, Brighton Beach: "Generous Food and Great Fun for All Ages" Brooklyn Nightlife Tip by Simon1944

The National Restaurant is a well known Russian entertainment centre in Brighton Beach a Russian neighbourhood in Brooklyn. A couple can have fun and you don't have to be Russian to enjoy it. I'm from England. My guest from Beijing responded immediately to the lively music. The band is great, so are the two singers with different styles and the violinist. Topping the entertainment is a burlesque show suitable for children and grandparents alike. Most people come in parties of ten or more dressed up for for a celebration set meal that could feed fifty! I am glad we could choose from the a la cate menu - even though the individual portions are enormous. Even the hardest heart would find it difficult not to have fun at the National. It costs from $60 - $100 a head and takes an hour to reach by subway from central Manhattan. Entertainment starts at 9.00. We left at 1.00 and it was far from over. Most of the announcements are in Russian but it doesn't matter. A unique experience and strongly recommended.

Dress Code: No jeans or sneakers. Most people dress up.
