Hostel La Vieja Estación, Puente del Inca: "Slummy hostel" Provincia de Mendoza Hotel Tip by Spartina

Warning!! To the people thinking of staying at that hostel which is only one of two possibilities for accomodations at Puente del Inca, this place even though I did not stay in it, looks awful! It is in such rough shape - basically crumbling - and with it's walls and roof made of tin, it looks more like an abandoned storage building (forget the old charming railway station) or even better yet, like something out of a "villa" (slum). There is an outhouse outside and hopefully, this is not their only toilet... also, I was told by 2 backpackers staying there that there is no heat in the rooms (although there are heaters in the halls). Brrrrrr.... Puente del Inca can get very cold at night, especially during the fall and winter. Sounds like it's the perfect place to freeze your butt off, which kind of sucks after a long day in the outdoors. Also, night life is probably very limited in Puente del Inca. There is only one cafe and one restaurant. My advice stay at Hosteria Puente del Inca instead or Hostel Uspallata.

Price Comparison: less expensive than average
Price: less than US$20
