"Al fresco" dining by the Mekong river bank: "Cheap local food by the Mekong river bank" Vientiane Restaurant Tip by andie1304

Vientiane Restaurants: 121 reviews and 146 photos

As the sun is on its course of setting beyond the horizon, a group of locals is beginning to set things up for part of their daily livelihood. I'm referring to the hawkers who set up their stalls along the bank of the Mekong River. Many of them sell barbecue dishes and you can find some cheap food here. Of course, do not expect anything "restaurant-like" about it as I've clearly stated that these are hawker stalls.

Well, the notion of cheap is really relative to what you order and how much you eat. In any case, a meal at any of these stall is relatively inexpensive. A simple noodle salad and enjoying a coconut drink in the evening breeze left me very satisfied.

Address: Hawker stalls along the Mekong river bank
