"Be careful of imitation traditional crafts..." Top 5 Page for this destination Okinawa Tourist Trap Tip by okinawa_wave

Okinawa Tourist Traps: 4 reviews and 2 photos

When shopping for authentic Okinawan crafts (i.e. glass, pottery, bingata), be careful of cheap imitations. It is best to buy directly from the artisans or from a reputable shop, such as the Naha Traditional Crafts Center near the airport. Some shops sell cheap imitations made elsewhere, but like the saying goes: "You get what you pay for."

Fun Alternatives: Pottery - Tsuboya, Yachimun no Sato
Glass - Naha Traditional Crafts Center, Washita Shop
Laquerware - Naha Traditional Crafts Center, Washita Shop
Bashofu - Kijoka Village in Ogimi
