"Jewish Quarter and Synagogues" Jewish Quarter Tip by el_ruso

Jewish Quarter, Toledo: 3 reviews and 7 photos

Toledo has a rich Jewish history and two surviving synagogues attest to it. In a beautifully decorated XIV century synagogue Transito there is a small but good museum telling the story of Spanish Jews, their customs, dress and life. The Jewish quarter is located in the SW of old town. It was called Medinat Al Yahud and had its own wall. The two surviving synagogues were used as churches after expulsion of the Jews, and both have recently been restored and used as museums.
