When you're in a wet environment, water laying everywhere in the fields and every field surrounded by them, it has curiousity value for those who come from foreign shores where the word is "parched".
Drought is a terrible thing. It takes so long in coming yet its effects can be just as devastating as a flood. Here it was apparent that such things rarely, if ever, occur and, if they do, nothing like we experience in Australia.
So, from time to time I paused to view the polders' fields, if for no other reason than simply to look at water.
Of course, there are varying sizes of canals also and the Boudewijnkanaal coming inland from Zeebrugge with its windfarms beside goes all the way to the limit of Brugge where it divides.
