If you plan to stay in Zurich for a few days then a daytrip to the Principality of Liechtenstein could be a good option for a change.
The capital Vaduz is situated inbetween the river Rhine and the Alps of Liechtenstein. The town's main landmark is the castle which overlooks Vaduz from a hilltop.
Other interesting sights include the St. Florin's Cathedral, the Town Hall and the Red House.
Liechtenstein's biggest town is Schaan which is home to 5.500 people. Among the main sights is the 18th century Dux Chapel and the neo-Gothic St. Laurentius New Parish Church.
Liechtenstein can be reached within about 1,5 hours from Zurich. Take a train to Sargans where you have to change to the Lichtenstein buses.
