"Hercules Tower" Segovia Things to Do Tip by el_ruso

Segovia Things to Do: 300 reviews and 763 photos

This tower, crowned by storks' nests, was originally a fortified residence of the Portocarreros and Arias families in the XIII century, and has since been converted to a convent of Dominican nuns in the XVI century. It is named after a mythological hero Hercules who, according to a legend, founded the city, and whose statue is inside - apparently it does not bother the Catholic nuns.
