"Cathedral of Segovia" Segovia Things to Do Tip by el_ruso

Segovia Things to Do: 300 reviews and 763 photos

The Cathedral is the last Gothic cathedral in Spain, begun in 1515. Four years before the old Romanesque cathedral, situated near the castle, was destroyed during the popular insurrection. The architect was Juan Gil de Hontañon, who was also the architect of the cathedral of Salamanca. It was built and decorated until 1768 when it was consecrated.

The interior is not as fancy as in Salamanca or Toledo, but nonetheless does not fail to impress. The stained glass window make the cathedral full of light.

Directions: Plaza Mayor
