"Mathildenhöhe & Rosarium - Darmstadt" Top 5 Page for this destination Germany Things to Do Tip by MichaelFalk1969

Darmstadt is better than its reputation. The city was heavily bombed in WW2, and the rapid rebuilding afterwards shows. Yet this city has a really interesting sight to offer, the "Mathildenhöhe", an artists colony with a good art noveau-museum and a russian-orthodox chapel. Also worthwhile: The Rosenhöhe, a Botanical Garten with roughly 200 species of roses, flowering from June to September. The Rosenhöhe is in the immediate vicinity of the Mathildenhöhe - a public park with the statues of lions on huge columns, at the main entrance.
