The Doge's Suite is named after the Doge's Palace on St. Mark's Square in Venice. The suite is located on a mezzanine between the first and second floors. The suite consists of a sitting room, two bedrooms, and two bathrooms. These are very busy rooms in terms of the art and furniture pieces packed inside. The original wood ceiling was divided into 2 pieces, and Morgan designed the bedroom sizes with each half in mind. However, measurements weren't exact, so edge molding was carved to match exactly the appearance of the 17th century Italian wood work both in style and age. Similarly, Morgan designed the room to accommodate the door panels, bed, and furniture appointed for each bedroom. In this images, the North Bedroom is shown. The bed is 17th Century Spanish or Italian, and the electric lamps are composed of parts of vases and sewn fabrics designed by Morgan and Hearst.
