Our Ship at the Dock in Colon
by Stephen-KarenConn

Our visit to Colon was aboard the M.V. Zenith of Celebrity Cruise Lines. Since it lies at the mouth of the Panama Canal, Colon sees more than its share of ocean traffic. Many cruise ships, as ours, dock for a day at Colon so that those on board may take day tours of the surrounding areas. Others pass through the canal, one of the great engineering wonders of the world, crossing from the Atlantic to the Pacific, or vice versa.

Although we did not pass through the Canal, we did get a chance to watch a couple of enormous cargo vessels pass through the Gutan locks. I have been told by those who have taken ships through the canal that the better view is from the shore rather than from onboard a ship. I'd still like to pass through the canal some day.
