The old Royal Palace was built in 1135. The building consists of three different architectural layers. The undergrounds are constituted by the Romanesque structure built by Sobieslao I. Above it Ottocaro II Premysl and Charles IV built their buildings, while the superior plan, built by Vladislao Jagello, contains the imposing Vladislao Room.
During the kingdom of the Asburgos the building entertained the administrative offices, the court and the parlament.
