Jehangiri Mahal was built in 1570 by Akbar for his son, aptly named Jehangiri. This red sandstone complex is one of the few buildt by Akbar that survives intact and wasn't modified by his grandson Shan Jahan, the great lover of marble. The impressive inner courtyard is surrounded by colonnades with overhanging capitals designed to hang baskets of plants.
