"Trip to WAT DOI SAKHET" Chiang Mai Things to Do Tip by Tedsocoa

Once you want to escape from the crowded (but beautiful) Wat Doi Suthep, just make a trip to another mountain on the east side of Chiang Mai. Following the road 118 (north/east exit)
you'll find a beautifull Wat on a dominating hill; the Wat Doi Sakhet. Distance is about 20 km.
When you'll arrive downstairs in the village, you have to climb up the high stairs for visiting this very beautiful temple. But there is one small road going up also, or when you'll arrive by motobike, no problem to go up.
There are many bonzes living around this temple, and there is a school, where young boys are learning the Boudhist religion. There where no tourists walking around, I was there in November last. Even when this temple complex is not so extended as the well known Wat Pra That, on Doi Suthep, dominating Chiang Mai, this site is really worth visiting. You will find much more devotion, silence and happyness.
Address: Road 118, North/east exit of Chiang Mai.
