I cannot thank Sue (sue_stone) enough for this fabulous restaurant recommendation - it made our little birthday celebration perfect!

La Lanterna is a lovely little restaurant overlooking the tiny harbor of Riomaggiore. They have a small inside restaurant and a terrace. Reservation is absolutely advisable: we saw many people trying to get a table and being sent away! This place has an excellent reputation and it is always full!

We had made online reservation long time before "the day" and had mentioned that it was supposed to be my husband's birthday dinner, and they had done everything to make this dinner unforgettable: for one thing they had given us the perfect table out on the terrazza with a spectacular view of the harbor and then they had made (online) recommendations of what to order! Best of all: they sent us a .pdf file with the menue in German! The staff was really friendly and the food was absolutely delicious!
