Plaza Mayor, Madrid: 145 reviews and 260 photos
This square used to be a place for merchants to sell their wares. Previously known as Plaza del Arrabal and Plaza de la Constitucion, Plaza Mayor survived three fires. When Felipe II established the court in Madrid, he reshaped the square to use it for special occasions (public executions, bull fights, theatral performances). Nowadays it is a tourist day and night attraction with artwork, souvenirs and cafes.
