The area of Kotor is a must if in Montenegro. It is located in the western part of the country, near the coastline.
First of all, before getting to Kotor, you have to decide if you either drive around the Bay of Kotor (couple of dozens of kilometers; not bad) or if you rather take a ferry across to the other side.
We decided to drive, that way we saw much more. There was also queue to the ferry. The Bay of Kotor is worth seeing due to its nice combination of dark high mountains and clear blue bay. When driving, you also see the approaching village.
Kotor old town, the Unesco World Heritage Area, is marked clearly with a brown sign and an arrow in it. Park your car outside and walk inside through the gates. Inside you find outside restaurants and many shops. And history and old architecture, of course.
Directions: Just follow the main road in the Adriatic seaside line to the south (if coming from the north). You won't miss the signs.
