If there is one thing that any student hears about the war for revolution which lead to the freedom of the 13 colonies, it is the dire situation that was endured at Valley Forge.

This park is the testament to the pride and memory we have of the events and people of those times. The park has monuments to the men who died and the men who survived, to the leaders (like George Washington) and to the followers.

Having gained ground on the British forces, the Continental army was forced to hold off for the winter months were closing in on both sides. To give up the ground so bravely won was unthinkable to the army leaders but to put the men through the hardship of the winter of 1777-78 was to weigh heavily on their consciences too.
But survive they did and went on to become the premier fighting force for the colonies and eventually won the war for independence.
