"Knot Garden" Top 5 Page for this destination Stratford-upon-Avon Things to Do Tip by Jenniflower

Stratford-upon-Avon Things to Do: 198 reviews and 444 photos

This beautiful and intricate garden was planted on the very soil where Shakespeare's home, New Place, once stood.

It was a highly desirable home apparently, the biggest in the town by far, as he was an extremely wealthy man - such a pity it is no longer here! :(

There is a colourful array of flowers on display in little 'knot' formations, which was the Elizabethan style of garden beds. At the time of year we were there, pansies and daffodills were in full bloom.

From this garden one walks through a wooden lattice 'tunnel' into the lovely sculpture garden.

Address: Chapel Street, Stratford-upon-Avon
Directions: It is right next to Nash's House, on the corner of the High Street and Chapel Street.
