"route 15" Pennsylvania Warnings Or Dangers Tip by davecallahan

Pennsylvania Warnings and Dangers: 8 reviews and 12 photos

Route 15 from the New York State border down to at least Harrisburg, PA is beautiful driving during the summer months but can be deadly in winter and dangerous during rain storms in spring and fall. The ups and downs and twists and turns give you excellent vantage views in summer but provide great chances for skids and rear-enders from trucks going down hill in bad weather. The winds on top of some of the hills can easily move your car a half a lane when the road is slippery. Some of the bridges and turns have grooved pavement for better grip but not enough of them have been upgraded.

I-81 is a much better road to choose to go through Pennsylvania in bad weather. The extra little mileage you travel will be worth the increase in safety.
