Chowpatty Beach, Mumbai: 18 reviews and 45 photos
The Chowpatty Beach overlooks a bay, and turns into a magical brightly lit funfair at night with vendors, pony rides, fortune tellers, performing monkeys, fishermen and families out for a stroll. Ship lights twinkle in the distance, and Marine Drive, the city’s most famous boulevard, decorates the bay in a dramatic arc of streetlights christened the Queen’s Necklace. Marine Drive extends from Nariman Point to Malabar Hill past the famous Chowpatty beach, and is built on land reclaimed from Back Bay along the Arabian Sea.
If you are visiting Bombay dont leave the place untill evening! You just wait for sunset to set in. This beauty is visible only in the evening. Best visible either from Malabar Hills, Hanging Garden, Marine Drive, Chowpatty Beach. You may choose time on return form Elephanta Cave have late lunch, visit Haji Ali then to Chowpatty Beach then to Malabar Hills Hanging garden( It is also called Kamala Nehru Park). When the evening setsis you may come down in a taxi or bus to Marine Drive witnessing this Gods' creation and Mans' decoration in Bombay. I tell you, you will never forget this!!! Trust Me!!
In case you are staying nearby place, like Colaba, VT area or Near GPO, you can wait till late as Bombay never sleeps. Beauty emerges the more late it gets.
