"Po Lin Monastery" Lantau Island Tip by clairegeordio
Lantau Island, Hong Kong: 231 reviews and 596 photos
After visiting the Big Buddha, we climbed all the way down the steps and headed for the Po Lin monastery which was VERY impressive. The main temple, the Hall of Great Hero, had a beautiful interior with 3 bronze statues of buddhas in it, representing his past, present and future lives. As you face away from the temple, at the top of the steps, you have a fantastic view out to the Big Buddha. The original temple was built in 1921 but it is undergone several renovations since then.
Afterwards you can enjoy your vegetarian meal which consisted of noodles and 2 or 3 cakes or desserts each.
