  World's Largest Dinosaur in Drumheller
by canuckmike

Drumheller and the surrounding valley is one of the more beautiful if not barren landscapes in Alberta. In fact the landscape has been used in numerous movies, commercials and music videos including but not limited to Superman, Rat Race and Unforgiven. But what it is best know for is that it is the dinosaur capital of the world. It has the world's largest man made dinosaur standing tall at 86 feet. The Royal Tyrrell Museum is a fantastic museum that is a must see if visiting the region and even if you weren't planning on visiting the region. In town there are dinosaurs everywhere which is everykids treat and plenty of places selling fossils. There is so much more than dinosaurs though. Amusement parks, museums of all sorts, ranches, ghost towns, canyons and golfing are among some of the stuff to keep you occupied.

Drumheller got it's start due to all the coal in the region. It's population got up to 30,000 people compared to the 8,000 today. Natural gas in another boast for the regions energy resources. In 1997 it went back down to town status and ammalgamated with the local district to include various smaller towns that were once seperate towns on there own. It is located 110 km northeast of Calgary.
