"Sahara on the Baltic - Leba's shifting dunes" Krokowa Off The Beaten Path Tip by Ekaterinburg
Krokowa Off The Beaten Path: 4 reviews and 10 photos
From Krokowa there are several interesting trips you can take, some more off the beaten path then others. On my Poland page I have given detailed descriptions of all these places so I won't repeat the details here. To briefly recap: the beaches at Debki and Bialogora are both very close to Krokowa; the tiny village of Zarnowiec with its Benedictine monastery and church is within ten minutes drive and there are often concerts here on summer Sunday evenings.
About one hour west of Krokowa is Slowinski National Park and the town of Leba. Details on my Poland page. It's also approximately one hour's journey to Gdansk which is an absolutely fascinating and really beautiful city. Details are on a seperate Gdansk page.
From Krokowa it is possible to go to the end of the Hel Peninsula by bus. Details on my Hel page.
All round Krokowa there are forest and beach trails that you can wander on at will and just surprise yourself by where you end up.
All the places I've mentioned are well worth a visit but I suppose if I had to single one out it would probably be the shifting dunes at Leba. This desert-like landscape is amazing and something you are not likely to see vey often. The drive through the countryside to get there is very scenic also.
