"Panama-dangers of road travel" Panama Warnings Or Dangers Tip by panamaroads

Panama Warnings and Dangers: 36 reviews and 51 photos

Near Chorerra, is a very dangerous stretch of the Pan/America highway. In less that 2 years 22 accidents with multiple fatalities, in some cases 7 fatalities,5 fatalities, 3 fatalities, Panama has 10 times the fatal accident rate of Canada and a much smaller population. If you are travelling from the airport to the beach areas where the Radison Decapolis is, you cannot avoid this stretch of highway. There have been public demonstrations and public outcry to fix this area. It may look okay, but there is a serious fault in the design or something and the accident rate is astronomical here. Poor highway conditons, poor driving, driving impaired, driving without a license, no insurance and poorly maintained vehicles add to the problem. Both Canada and the US have travel warnings about the frequency of accident resulting in injury and death in this country. The statistics for this particular stretch of highway which tourists cannot avoid are staggerring. Whether you are driving or being chaufeured. It is extremely unsafe to travel on the Pan Am highway in Panama.
